Business Formation

Forming your business is an important first step in any owner’s journey. At Capital City Law, we focus our efforts on understanding your business and then leverage technology to rapidly and effectively implement the legal foundation for your business.

Selecting Your Business Type

Making an informed and correct choice on what business form is best for you is critical to guiding and protecting your company’s future success. Sole proprietorships, although simple, do not offer liability protection or tax management options. General and limited partnerships offer additional flexibility, especially for projects with multiple owners or investors. Corporations (S-Corps, C-Corps, B-Corps, and Nonprofits) and Limited Liability Companies (LLC’s) may offer additional protections and flexibility but can carry additional expenses as well. In certain cases, you might even consider forming your business in another state to take advantage of tax, privacy, and other benefits not available in North Carolina.
